The global movement originated as Keychange in Europe in 2017 and the The Global Keychange Pledge boasts more than 700+ signatories across the music ecosystem globally. Keychange U.S. is building on the global success of the movement to authentically develop a stronger, safer, and more inclusive U.S. music industry for all.
Mamas in Music provides essential resources that empower Mothers to advance their musical careers by creating a shared network, generating opportunities, and offering financial and emotional support initiatives. Mamas In Music is committed to challenge the status quo as we advocate for equal opportunities for Mothers in an industry that historically under-values and under-represents their efforts, contributions, and abilities.
We Are Moving The Needle is a nonprofit organization supporting all women recording industry professionals, audio engineers and producers. They are an inclusive organization working to create measurable change by empowering women in the recording and professional audio industry with the education, equipment and the mentorship needed to succeed at the highest levels.
Established in 1985, Women in Music is a non-profit organization committed to advancing equality, visibility and opportunities for women in the musical arts through education, support, empowerment and recognition. They provide members with educational, career development, and networking resources, and an opportunity to find community in their global Women in Music family.
FFS is a female-founded and led global community of female and gender minority DJs and creators striving to empower girls through sound and action. They facilitate events, seminars, digital content and network meetings that focus on incubating new talent, and strengthening existing talent, while making space for female and gender minority DJs in the music industry.
The mission at GMB is to empower girls ages 5 to 17 by expanding the female presence of music producers, DJs, and audio engineers. They aim to increase impact through their educational programming, events and mentorship. Amplify Her Voice is at the forefront of championing gender equality in the music industry. They advance women’s careers through educational, networking, and creative opportunities by providing the community with valuable events, programs, and resources to not just work, but thrive in the music industry.
Future Front TX is an arts and culture nonprofit, homegrown in Texas. They produce vibrant spaces, shows, opportunities & resources for women & LGBTQ+ creatives. Among their numerous programs are their biannual independent marketplace and fair, an end-of-summer festival, their community space in Austin, workshops, clubs, and funding. The Girls Rock Camp Alliance is an international membership network of youth-centered arts and social justice organizations. They provide resources and space for community building to our membership in order to build a strong movement for collective liberation. Girls Rock Camps help girls build self-esteem and find their voices through unique programming that combines music education and performance, empowerment and social justice workshops, positive role models, and collaboration and leadership skill building.
shesaid.so is a global community of women, gender nonconforming people and allies in the music industry. Their mission is to connect and empower underrepresented communities towards a more equitable music industry for all, one woman or gender nonconforming person at a time. shesaid.so started as and continues to be a space where members can openly ask for advice, share jobs and events, announce new projects and build community. There are currently 12,000 members across 18 local chapters.
SITM is a nonprofit organization increasing the number of women working in music – songwriters, engineers, producers, artists and industry professionals. They are an independent, global network that operates as a unifying organization for women from across the industry, creating strength and impact on a global scale. As an umbrella nonprofit, they also provide resources and support for women-focused initiatives that are working to create meaningful change.
FEMME HOUSE is a non-profit organization, fostering more equitable opportunity for women and gender-expansive individuals in the technical and behind the scenes areas of music. They are creating the future producers, mixers, engineers, DJs, artists, and executives of the industry by providing education and scholarships, cultivating community, propagating visual representation, and offering professional development opportunities.
Girls Who Listen is a female founded nonprofit dedicated to supporting and shaping future female creatives and executives within the music industry. Catered to a diverse community of women, Girls Who Listen hosts a series of events such as panels, mingling mixers, songwriting sessions, and compiles an internal networking database for upcoming creators and professionals aiming to learn more about the music industry.
We Make Noise provides programming for women and gender-expansive youths and adults that blend music creation, technology training, community building, and career development to instill the mindset and abilities needed for success in the music industry and beyond. They work to harness the power of music and technology to advance global gender equity, equipping communities with tools that cultivate limitless potential.
Girls Behind the Rock Show started as an idea on paper years ago to help more women become involved in the music industry. Over the years, they have developed programs to help advance marginalized genders working within the music industry. Wherever they are in their career, they want to help them find their path, make connections and receive the education and support they need.
Girl Connected is an organization that seeks to empower determined women professionals with a multilevel, local to global platform that provides the necessary framework towards professional success, inspiration, and growth. Through their programming, consisting of in-person and online events, as well as a global mentorship initiative (GCMP) participants are able to evolve their careers, grow their ideas, and build meaningful relationships with fellow peers in the music business.
Women In Jazz Organization is a collective of over 500 professional Jazz Musicians and Composers who identify as Women or Gender Non-Binary. Their goal is to help level the playing field in Jazz, so that women and non-binary people have equal opportunity to participate in and contribute to Jazz, leading to an improved and more rich, diverse, and successful art form.
Women’s Audio Mission is a San Francisco/Oakland-based nonprofit organization that uses music and media and an incredible “carrot” of a training environment – the only professional recording studio in the world built and run by women – to attract over 2,000 underserved women and girls every year to STEM and creative technology studies that inspire them to amplify their voices and become the innovators of tomorrow.
Gender Amplified is a non-profit organization that aims to celebrate women and gender-expansive music producers, raise their visibility and develop a pipeline for them to build equity in the music industry. In The Key is a platform focused on the electronic music industry - raising the visibility of gender minorities and championing diversity more broadly. They provide statistics, thought leadership, industry articles, documentaries, expert podcasts, and publications, as well as the most comprehensive, multi-genre directory of female, trans and non-binary electronic music producers anywhere.Their research findings have appeared in some of the industry’s leading publications and informed policy.
Gritty in Pink is a community of diverse female creators working in the music industry. They provide connection, access and opportunities through their inclusive network. They are on a mission to achieve gender equity and equality in the music industry, through their online talent marketplace IN PINK, events, and community.
