SUPPORT OUR MISSION

Your support funds real solutions to gender inequity in music. We've spent 8 years documenting the problem with credible research. Now we're moving beyond awareness to action. We’re connecting artists to opportunities, holding the industry accountable, and building alternative models that prove equitable systems actually work. Your tax-deductible donation through our fiscal sponsor Fractured Atlas directly contributes to this work.

WHY NOW?

After 8 years of tracking a slow improvement in gender equity in music, momentum has plateaued. Systemic inequity continues to push women, nonbinary, and trans artists out of the field. Finances, caregiving imbalance, and harassment act as exit points that silence voices and end careers. At the same time, the platforms that most support these voices (public radio, nonprofit programs, local festivals) face immediate threats as federal arts funding is slashed and threatened. Without intentional action, we risk losing these critical voices and the spaces that uplift them.

On top of this, the music industry is in a moment of immense change. Shifting power structures, technology, and data are reshaping music in real time. We must use this window to reform the system into something human-centered. What we do now will determine whether this transformation concentrates power or builds a more equitable and sustainable ecosystem.

The industry is being reshaped - which is exactly when we can really change this system.

WHAT YOUR SUPPORT DOES

In this new chapter, we need your support to launch our first programs, including:

  • BOOKED: Our festival partnership program supporting organizers in setting and meeting measurable equity goals and providing opportunities to underserved artists

  • MEASURED: Our investigative podcast exploring power and gatekeeping in the music industry, with a first season zeroing in on the music festival

  • DATA AND RESOURCES: We’ll keep providing the original research you expect, and digging in further to reveal what needs to change. Plus, we’re dedicated to unlocking knowledge and resources that is too often inaccessible to developing artists

And this is just the beginning. We’re planning workshops, guides, and other resources to support developing artists, and creating unique new programs to scale the use and power of data and accountability as we grow.

Your support immediately funds the infrastructure and programming that will make Book More Women’s mission possible, directly supporting underserved artists now, and creating industry accountability and long term change in the future.

Book More Women is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions for the charitable purposes of Book More Women must be made payable to “Fractured Atlas” only and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
